Guidelines
- Identify information (similarities or differences) in both texts.
- Read the question carefully — are you being asked to compare similarities or differences?
- Write three short paragraphs, and in each:
- Identify a similarity (or difference if appropriate).
- Provide one quotation from each text to illustrate.
- Enclose quotations in quotation marks.
- Embed quotations into your own sentences.
- Do not quote whole sentences — be precise and quote only what is strictly relevant and necessary.
- For example: One similarity is that both texts… For example, in Text 1… Likewise, in Text 2…
- You will be more likely to gain top marks if one of your similarities is quite subtle. If this is the case, you may have to provide some explanation.
